Dreams

Last night's dream involved riding my motorcycle at high speeds through mostly empty concrete superhighways, while lost and having foolishly forgotten my yellow supersuit and removed my helmet at a previous stop. The wan sunlight direction indicated a late afternoon in mid summer and I was following a hyper-industrialized Mass Turnpike westbound. I remember taking a number of curves at high speed (and the new brakes IRL have a grabby feel that was replicated in the dream), which I managed gracefully by leaning over so far my unprotected knuckles scraped the ground.

Well, not hard to see where my subconscious came up with that one!

Hack your brain to use cravings to your advantage I've been using a similar technique since forever, and it changed my life.

Burnout and how to fix it I wish I'd known this 10 years ago.

Dreams

Amongst the many dreams last light:
Cocktail party on a white balcony of a multi-story California hill house. Watching the neighbor relocate a flood lamp down the pole so it wouldn't glare into his eyes when he was sitting on his balcony.
Then, the hostess letting us in on a secret for why her parties always end at the right time and never fizzle out - she casts an Unwelcoming spell, and everyone suddenly decides to leave. The spell makes a nearby crane (the long-legged bird kind) become overly friendly and it joins the party, munching on canapes.
A group of Star Wars commandos breaking into Darth Vader's house to rescue a slave. One of the commandos is left behind. While Vader is in his meditation chamber, the last commando sneaks out a finds a robot selling cheap costume accessories, and tries to purchase a knock-off Indiana Jones-style outfit, replete with a 45-caliber revolver and bullwhip. The revolver only comes with blanks, but then it turns out, being an escaped slave without ID, it doesn't matter anyways.

Traditions

I'm not big on traditions. For the most part, I feel that traditions limit our behavior to "what might have worked in the past" and further limit the mechanisms allowed for updating that behavior to ones that work better. There's a vast rant in here about religion, politics, and all the other anger-inducing topics for budding sociologists; a rant that I'm not going to entertain at this time.

However, I have one Thanksgiving tradition, and it's a bit silly: the next morning, I have pie for breakfast.
